Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet is a first-person shooter adventure game. The game is a sequel to Call of Cthulhu: Prisoner of Ice, and follows the story of a detective from the Los Angeles Police Department investigating a series of murders in the region of the city.
The gameplay consists of a mixture of puzzle solving, exploration, combat, and various other gameplay elements. This is a first person shooter, with a large emphasis on exploration and puzzle solving, as opposed to being a fast-paced action game. The game features a variety of weapons, and a large selection of enemies to fight against. In Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet the player follows the story of a detective from the New England Police Department which investigates a mysterious cult in an abandoned house. The player's goal is to investigate the house and find out what is going on. To progress in the game, the player needs to explore the house and search for clues. The player also needs to interact with different objects and talk to NPCs.
The graphics are a mix of 3D renderings and live-action images. The live-action images are real actors placed into 3D renderings of the game world. The 3D renderings are of a high standard, and the game world is suitably dark and gothic, with an appropriate level of detail. The graphics in Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet are not realistic, but more stylized. The environment is bleak, and there are some minor graphical glitches.
Once the game has been completed, there is no possibility of saving. The game is linear, with each player playing through the game in the same way.
